Try asking some kids and the old ones of their favorite TVC today, and it isn’t surprising if McDonald’s recent TV commercial will be on top of the list.
Why should I say so?
The idea is quite practical rather than hypothetical. When you see a two-year old little boy rushing from his bedroom to the living room upon hearing the TV commercial just to catch that beautiful moment and sing along; it is no doubt, that specific brand/product/service has already triumphed in the taste of the kids. That success could have been doubled, if other than the little ones, it is also the favorite of adults. Clearly speaking, these two criteria are actually present at McDonald’s latest TVC.
Yes, I’m talking about the fast food chain’s impressive stint showing Pinoy granny-granddaughter’s close emotional tie. Certainly, it’s exactly a perfect portrayal of how Filipinos preserve their closeness and openness to one another; and how grandchildren are well-loved by their grandparents and the other way around.
Played by a veteran Filipina actress, Marita Zobel, and the new child wonder, Jana Cassandra “Peachy” Agoncillo, the TVC presents a granny and a granddaughter singing together a Petula Clark song “Downtown”. In the ad, the granddaughter (Peachy) is following all the actions of her granny (Marita); and their great moment ended up dining in at McDonald’s fast food chain.
Here’s the TVC:
The TVC is sending a concise message depicting the uplift of goal of the Filipino spirits and family-oriented values. The combined charisma in the “granny-granddaughter” tandem of Marita Zobel and Peachy Agoncillo are just so overwhelming and the rest is ‘magic’.
Prior to this latest TVC, McDonald’s made a record-breaker shift from the controversy it faced way back by coming up with an advertisement “Kuya“, which showcased a special child living in a normal life.
With this consistent advertising concept, it’s no doubt that McDonald’s will be able to connect and penetrate a better relationship with the Filipino people. And of course, this excellent concept is not possible without the works of creative people — kudos to Leo Burnett (Manila) ad agency for this impressive advertising concept.
